She has been based in Remuera as a general dentist for over 20 years, although she originally hails from Gisborne on the East coast. Maron's philosophy encompasses the concept that aesthetic dentistry should be guided by an individualised treatment plan, ensuring all patients enjoy long term health and function.
University of Pretoria - South Africa 2000
Carin spent her first year working as a community dentist, providing essential dental service in Cecilia Makiwane (state) hospital and surrounding rural schools & clinics. She spent the next 8 years with a wonderful group of people at Medicross in East London (SA) - breaking the ice as their first female dentist, providing a wide range of dental care from early preventive and restorative treatment for toddlers and children to cosmetic, prosthetic and minor surgical treatment for adults. Carin has been in NZ for 15 years and been at OneHealth Dental for 13 years, building on her already extensive dental knowledge and is proud to have built a solid and loyal patient base.
Oral Health Therapist
I graduated with a Bachelor of Oral Health from the University of Otago in 2020 and since then have gained experience working in both Christchurch and Auckland.
I enjoy caring for patients of all age groups, with a particular passion for helping people overcome their fear of the dentist. For me, it all begins with something simple yet powerful — a clean and healthy smile. My goal is always to make each dental visit a positive experience and to support patients on their journey to better oral health.
Outside of dentistry, I love spending time in the kitchen baking and cooking, as well as singing and catching up with friends. At home, I share my life with Gurumi, my ragdoll baby boy cat, who always keeps me entertained.
Dental Assistant
I’ve been proudly working with One Health Dental for the past three years and am currently studying towards my Certificate of Dental Assisting with the NZDA.
My journey into dentistry began when I was a receptionist at a dental clinic. I soon discovered how much I enjoyed hands-on work and caring for patients, which inspired me to train as a dental assistant. I love meeting new people and helping them feel relaxed and comfortable during their visit. Seeing a patient leave with a smile at the end of their appointment is the most rewarding part of my job.
Outside of work, I’m a busy mum caring for my partner, my son, and our two dogs. I enjoy playing badminton, catching up with friends, and spending time outdoors in the sun and fresh air. You’ll often find us hanging out in playgrounds and cafés, making the most of family time together.
Dental Nurse
Ruby has been part of the practice for more than four years, starting her career as a dental nurse in 2005 after being trained on the job by a dentist. She is one of our most experienced team members and is affectionately known as the “old furniture” of the clinic — a trusted and reliable presence who has seen it all.
From a young age, Ruby dreamed of becoming a registered nurse. Although her path changed, she found her calling in dentistry and has never looked back. She loves the relationships she builds with patients, many of whom become like friends or family. Ruby also treasures the close bonds she shares with her teammates, describing them as sisters who share both the joys and the hard times together.
In her spare time, Ruby enjoys listening to music, singing karaoke, and playing mahjong. She describes herself as a family person and stays closely connected with her sister every day.
At home, Ruby is always busy — she admits she spends much of her free time happily cleaning and looking after her household.
Dental Nurse
Amy’s journey into dentistry was anything but conventional. After studying fashion at university, she found herself searching for work as a graduate and unexpectedly discovered a true passion for dental nursing. She qualified as a Dental Nurse in the UK in 2011 and spent five years working within the NHS before deciding to travel the world.
Her dental qualification became a passport to new opportunities, helping fund her adventures and eventually bringing her to New Zealand in 2018 — a country she now calls home. Amy is currently working toward gaining her New Zealand citizenship.
For the past two years, Amy has worked alongside Dr Steven, thriving in the dynamic and fast-paced world of orthodontics, particularly enjoying the transformative power of treatments like Invisalign. Her enthusiasm for her work shines through in her interactions with patients — helping them feel comfortable, informed, and genuinely cared for.
With over a decade of experience across various areas of dentistry in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand, Amy brings a broad and practical skill set to her role. She often describes herself as a “square peg in a square hole” — a perfect fit in the dental world.
Outside of work, Amy is an avid traveler, having explored more than 25 countries. She and her partner have now settled in New Zealand, where they welcomed their son in 2024. Together, they love spending weekends camping, scuba diving, and enjoying a classic Kiwi BBQ.
Dental Assistant
Mariela has been part of our team for more than four years and brings a wealth of experience to her role as a qualified Dental Assistant. Originally from Bulgaria, she worked as a registered nurse for 12 years before moving to New Zealand in 1997. After learning English and completing further training, she gained her diploma in dental assisting through the NZ Dental Association in 2002 and has been caring for patients ever since.
When she’s not at work, Mariela enjoys walking along the beaches, spending time with family and friends, and helping her partner with his work. At home, she also finds joy in reading books and keeping her space tidy and welcoming.
Practice Manager
Dayna is the Practice Manager at OneHealth Dental, working behind the scenes (well mainly out the front) to make sure everything runs smoothly for patients and the team. From coordinating appointments to supporting the dentists and hygienists, she’s dedicated to creating a welcoming and stress-free experience for everyone who comes through the door.
Dayna began her career in the dental industry in 2015 as a receptionist at a dental practice, where she quickly discovered how much she enjoyed connecting with patients and supporting their care. Over the years, she worked her way through different roles within the practice, gaining a broad understanding of both patient needs and clinical processes. Experiencing a little dental anxiety herself, Dayna knows how important it is to create a calm and reassuring environment. This perspective has shaped her approach as a Practice Manager today, empathetic, calm and always focused on making every visit as smooth as possible for everyone.
Outside of the clinic, Dayna enjoys spending time with her family and her lively puppy, Indie. She’s a big dog lover, so if you have one at home, be sure to let her know, she’ll be more than happy to swap stories and photos!
Receptionist
Donna is the friendly face who keeps everything running smoothly at reception. She first came to the practice as a patient, where she was so impressed with the care she received that she jumped at the chance to join the team when a role became available.
Donna loves helping people and is passionate about the important role dentistry plays in overall health. For her, the most rewarding part of her job is seeing the difference dentistry can make in improving a person’s confidence and smile.
Outside of work, Donna enjoys watching her son’s rugby, spending time with her grandchildren, and keeping busy with gardening and reading. She always has a book on hand — the perfect excuse to relax in the sun. She also treasures time spent in nature, especially in places that are remote and peaceful.
